Denton Community Theatre Announces Winners of the
Method and Madness Playwriting Competition
Method and Madness Playwriting Festival

Denton Community Theatre is pleased to announce the winners of the Method and Madness Playwriting Competition, the new one-act playwriting competition focusing on Imagination and the Human Condition.
The $2000 first place winner is Family Matters by J.M. Eisenman of Encino, CA.
The $1000 second place winner is Clipped by Lance Griffin of Merritt Island, FL.
The $500 third place winner is Samaritans, or, Where is Sylvia? by Wayne Paul Mattingly of the Bronx, NY.
The $300 fourth place winner is The Night We Bombed Lincoln Towing by Steven Young of Dallas, TX.
The $200 fifth place winner is Captive Minds by Lon Rogers, also of Dallas, TX.
The winning plays will receive their awards and a staged reading at the Method and Madness Playwriting Festival at the DCT POINTBank Black Box Theatre May 28-June 2, 2012, in conjunction with Mental Health Month.
The festival will also feature panels, workshops, and talkbacks with theatre and mental health professionals. All-festival passes are $100 and include 2 receptions and entry to all readings, panels, workshops, and talkbacks. One-day passes will be available for $50, and individual event tickets will be $10.
Special rates are also available for Festival atendees at the Best Western Premiere in Denton: 2 Queen/1 King Guest Rooms will be available for $79 per night, and 2 Queen/1 King Suites will be available for $94 per night. Call 940 387-1007 for reservations.

Plays were read and evaluated by DCT volunteers and local Mental Health professionals. Each play was read at least 3 times, and at least one experienced theatre volunteer and one mental health professional read each play. The top three scores for each play were used to determine winners.
